This Black Walnut Tree (c. 1756-1856) in the back yard of Okruhlik/Conge‟s house (land c.1834, Plat c.1895, house c.1905) is a large specimen (height of 120‟ and spread of 63‟ – 78‟ for a “Bigness index” of 257) for its species. The nominator provided a history of the area, land, plat and house and previous owners of the Plat/house include: Confederate Capitan Samuel Pickney Pittman, President of Washington County Bank (1902-1905), Judge Washington Lewis (1916-1923), Judge Lee A. Seamster (1923-1935), James W. Chandler – First real estate office and one of the founders of the NW Arkansas Riding Club (1940-1966) to name a few. “It has stood guard in the heart of the oldest neighborhood in Fayetteville (Washington-Willow Historic District) and is older than the oldest homes there”.
